Dancing for Donations

Members of the Mendocino Ballet Company  presented a performance on Sunday, October 29 from 4-5 pm at the Mendocino Ballet studio (205 South State Street) to raise money for those who suffered losses from the devastating fires in Mendocino County. Almost $2000 was raised for the Community Foundation Fire Relief Fund. We are very proud of the dancers who put together this special event to support friends and neighbors as we all heal and recover. You can call us at 463-2290 for more information or to find out how to donate.

Art of Classical Ballet Program

Classes in this program start August 28, 2017. The Art of Classical Ballet Program was developed to give the serious ballet dancer the opportunity to train at a professional level. Even though only a small percentage of dancers from this level will go on to be professional dancers, the training they receive will prepare them for that dream while providing them with valuable life skills. Dancers in this program have the chance to perform special roles in the Nutcracker, spring ballets and community events, as well as participate in our Cultural Exchange Program in southern France.

Welcome to the Mendocino Ballet

The Mendocino Ballet offers a high quality dance program in a safe, positive, and non-competitive learning environment with an age-appropriate curriculum for all ages and levels.  Incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1985, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality professional dance instruction and performance opportunities in Mendocino County and surrounding areas.

Performance opportunities abound for students as well as community members.  With year-round classes for all ages from 3 through adult, we have a class for everyone. An active Outreach Program introduces dance history and the many benefits of dance and movement to school children and teachers from throughout the county.  Our instructors bring years of training, education and professional experience to the classroom.

A spring “Season of Dance” showcases Classical and Contemporary Ballet, Jazz, Modern Dance, and Tap as well as children's story ballets for School Tour and public performances.  “The Nutcracker” is performed each December and showcases local dance students and adult performers alongside members of the Mendocino Ballet Company.

Simply put, we provide the most comprehensive, professional dance program in the area with an emphasis on a positive experience for YOU and YOUR child!

"My daughter has been able to build and gain flexibility, self confidence, friendships, knowledge and courage through dancing at Mendocino Ballet."

Welcome New Instructors!

Piper Sloan

Piper has always had a passion for dance. She has trained in various studios across the USA as well as England. Piper loves all styles of dance including ballet, tap, modern, jazz and lyrical. As a child she won several awards in dance competitions; and as a teenager she was accepted to study with the San Francisco Ballet School and  performed in The Nutcracker and Circus Polka with the company.

Piper continued her education at Diablo Valley College and UC Davis in Dance and Choreography. She has consistently taken master classes with accomplished dancers in modern dance styles and ballet. Piper was invited to join and perform with CODA Dance Company in Oakland which can be described as a modern dance company with a ballet foundation.

Piper has taught in a variety of settings from private lessons in homes, to studios for children and peer group classes. She has worked with children ages 3 and up through adult. She is very excited to share her passion and knowledge of dance with Mendocino Ballet students!

Emily Baugus

Emily is an alumnus of the Mendocino Ballet Company. She has fond memories of performing in The Nutcracker, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and many other Mendocino Ballet productions. In 2005 she had the opportunity to travel to France to participate in the French Cultural Exchange program between Mendocino Ballet and ballet companies from southern France.

Emily has also studied Hip Hop dance and Early Childhood Education at Mendocino College. Her teaching experience includes early childhood music and movement, and Pilates.

Emily is looking forward to returning to Mendocino Ballet and her first love of teaching ballet to children.
